Training Programmes

Tribal Research Institute runs various Training and Capacity building programmes for the betterment of tribal communities. The different kind of training and capacity building training programmes include:

1. Laws / constitutional provisions in respect of scheduled areas / tribal rights (including FRA, PESA, Prevention of Atrocities Act, L&RR, and Land Acquisition etc.)
2. Capacity building of functionaries and tribal representatives on socio-economic programmes.
3. Capacity building of Artisans – Art & Craft, Metal craft, painting, dance/drama, textiles, handicrafts as well as value addition to art, craft and designs etc. This can include kits and tools etc.
4. Conducting of Seminars, Conferences, and Workshops on various tribal related issues.
5. Think tank related activities.

PRI training programme

With the aim to develop the capacities of the elected tribal representatives of the Gram Panchayats and their functionaries, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India has initiated the nation-wide programme on ‘Capacity building training for all the ST PRI Members & Key Stakeholders on Tribal Development Schemes & Programs (Sarpanches & Nayeb Sarpanch and Ward Members/ ST community members will undergo this awareness program).

Ministry in partnership with the State Governments intends to conduct such capacity building programmes across all the States. It is intended to enhance the capacities of the elected tribal PRI representatives to enable them to function effectively.

Research and Documentation

Tribal Research Institute is responsible for research and documentation on various topics like:

• Tribal welfare measure.
• Success stories of the tribal communities.
• Tribal Profile.
• Tribal language, culture, traditions, customs, arts & artefacts, traditional medicinal practices, tribal myth & stories, tribal cuisines and other special characteristics.
• Monitoring and evaluation of various government interventions.
• Development and printing of primers in local tribal languages.
• Any other aspects relating to tribal art, tradition and culture.

Seminars and Workshops

Tribal Research Institute regularly organises seminars and workshop for educating and enriching its workforce, community, teachers and members associated directly or indirectly for the betterment of the tribal communities of Uttarakhand. The workshops are organised on variety of topics pertaining to subject of requirement in fields like education, health, eco-tourism, livelihood and others. 

Exhibitions and Fairs

Tribal Research Institute under the aegis of Tribal Welfare Department, Uttarakhand in collaboration with Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India organises various Exhibitions and Fairs on a regular basis to provide a platform to the tribal artists, artisans and craftsmen to showcase their talent and art to the public. 

These exhibitions and fairs not only provide a platform to tribal talent but also give impetus to the efforts of giving livelihood to the community.
