Plastic Waste Management
Plastic Waste is a major concern for the government and public at all levels. Inspired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Global call against Single use Plastic, TRI Uttarakhand has joined this movement and is roping in Partners and premier Institutions from Uttarakhand to create awareness amongst the masses regarding the same.
A Poster making and Creative Writing Competition was organised in our Tribal educational institutions – 3 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, 16 Ashram Type Schools, 3 Industrial Training Institutes and 5 Tribal Hostels of Uttarakhand on National Science Day (28 February, 2022). The competition was an initiative to sensitise the youth against the harmful effects of single use plastic to the environment.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between TRI Uttarakhand and Cognizance IIT Roorkee (annual technical festival of IIT Roorkee) for training and sensitisation of youth for Plastic Waste Management and to eliminate the use of single use plastic from daily life. A workshop was organised at Eklavya Model Residential School, Kalsi, Dehradun by the students of IIT Roorkee.
